Personality ;

Takashi Shirogane (a.k.a Shiro) is a born-leader. His presence alone tells you he is the head. He really isn't the bossy type of leader though, he somehow manages to calmly command his team. Shiro is a kind-hearted person and always has his teammates backs! 

Backstory :

Shiro was once an extremely talented and skilled pilot. He broke every record people could think of. In other words, he was famous in the astrological world. Even though Shiro deserved some rest, he wanted to keep going. He wanted to be one of the pilots of the Kerberos Mission( a mission to visit a planet called Kerberos which would be the furthest any astronauts have gone. Unfortunately , Shiro had a muscular disease and was not allowed to go on the mission. After days of convincing , they finally allowed him to be one of the members of the Kerberos Mission along with Commander Iverson Holt and his son Matt Holt. 

When they finally arrived at Kerberos after a long trip, they tried to collect of sample of the ground in Kerberos. But fate had other plans , and an alien spaceship appeared. They captured Shiro and the others and took them to the ship. Apparently , they were captured by an alien race known as the Galra who served under the name of their emperor : Zarkon. Shiro and Matt were taken to fight in an arena while Commander Holt was taken to someother place where scientists like him were. Shiro saved Matt's life and pushed him out of the way. He fought their most powerful opponent and somehow won. It didn't come without a price , though. Shiro lost his arm and it had to be replaced with a prosthetic one. 

Shiro had endured too much pain but he never gave up hope. He timed the pattern of the Galra troops and escaped the Galra after many months of dedication. He crash-landed on earth and was taken into the Garrison for examination. Luckily Keith, Lance , Pidge and Hunk saved him. He told them about this "Voltron" and it was some kind of weapon the Galra were looking for and they needed to find it first. Together they found Voltron and became the Defenders of the Universe !
