Voltron Legendary Defender Is set in space and revolves around 4 teenagers (Lance, Hunk, Pidge, Keith) and their leader, Shiro. 

They were all part of the Galaxy Garrison, where they turn young cadets into future astronauts. One day, they all snuck of onto the roof of the Garrison and Pidge explained to Lance and Hunk that she was listening to “alien radio chatter” and they kept on repeating one word. Voltron! They then saw Shiro crashing onto earth and was taken for examination by Galaxy Garrison Faculty. 

Shiro was a famous astronaut who was part of the Kerberos Mission crew. He did not return from his mission and was not heard of until after a year. Shiro crashed on a spaced shuttle onto the surface. They then meet Keith and together they rescue him and went to Keith’s Shack. In there, he showed some charts and they told him that something was going to happen then, and what happened was the return of Shiro! Keith explained that he was reading energy signatures and they seemed to be originating in the mountains.

They all decide to go there and find a cave with ancient ruins of a blue lion. Lance touches it and all the ancient ruins glowed which resulted in the cave opening up and them falling into a hole.  When they came to, their eyes stared at the majestic beauty of the lion. It was a sight to behold! Could this be Voltron?

Then they noticed that the lion was protected by a sky blue forcefield or barrier. It was more advanced than any earth technology they had ever seen. Keith tried to get in but with no luck. However, Lance was able to go through and it opened for everyone else. 

The lion started flying through the mountains at great speed. Lance said that the reaction time of this

ship was amazing, and it supposedly did the action before he even thought of it.  Then suddenly the lion started talking to him. Only lance could hear it , and the
lion told him to follow it’s instructions. They took a team decision and they decided to listen to it. They lift off and too their surprise they see an alien ship. Immediately, Shiro recognized it as a galra ship, similar to the one that captured him. He told Lance to run, but it was as if the lion had a mind of his own. He immediately started attacking the ship but it was no use. 

The blue lion created a huge wormhole and told Lance to go into it. They trusted the lion as it had more knowledge about this than anyone else present. They fly through the wormhole and end up on a planet known as Arus. Shiro was not able to recognize any of the nearby constellations. They must have been teleported really far. They fly down to a castle and meet Allura and Coran, who claimed to be an alien species know as             Alteans and their planet "Altea" was                                                                                                            destroyed by an evil race known as the Galra.

Allura explained to them that they found the blue lion and it was part of the most powerful weapon in the universe : Voltron ! Together, they found all the lions and became the Paladins Of Voltron !
